DIY Holiday Magnets

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

Wondering what to do with your extra holiday cards? Or maybe you have a few beautiful cards left over from last year that you’d love to put back on display. Here’s a quick and easy idea to repurpose those cards and adorn your fridge with festive, holiday magnets.

What you’ll need:

Carefully cut out the photo or decorative element from the greeting card. Cut a piece of the magnet strip to fit the back. Peel off the backing to the magnet and adhere it to the back center of the cut out shape. Voila! Instant holiday magnet! This is a great craft project to do with children and would make an adorable gift for family this holiday.

DIY Gift Idea for the Holiday Hostess

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

Personalized and homemade gifts always have that special touch and are perfect for the holidays. With party season starting, it’s nice to bring a little something for the hostess. Here we’ll show you a cute and simple idea for a decorative jar gift where your packaging is just as impressive as the jam or other treats inside.

What you’ll need:

  • a glass jar with lid
  • a personalized gift tag sticker; here we have used Tiny Prints Table Setting gift tag sticker
  • a piece of calico fabric to match the color or design of your gift tag sticker
  • a rubber band
  • decorative ribbon
  • homemade jam/jelly/chocolate dipping sauce/etc.

After filling the jar with your homemade jam, simply stick the gift tag sticker to the center of the glass jar. Trace the jar lid on to the back side of your calico fabric, and draw a circle that is about 1″ larger than the size of the jar lid (depending on how much frill you want and the size of the lid). Cut out the circle; you can even use pinking shears or decorative scissors for unique edges. Cover the lid with the fabric circle and fasten with a rubber band to hold it in place. Tie a ribbon around the jar neck for the finishing touch.

It’s a quick, easy, and adorable gift that the hostess will love! You can even use the same idea to package multiple jars to distribute your favorite holiday jam to friends and family.
