DIY Tasty Fall Party Favors

11:40:55 by Jessy | No Comments

When it comes to food, is there anything better than fall flavors? We think not… which is why we put together this cute (and tasty) DIY party favor to hand out at your next get-together. We chose a baked apple spice recipe to fill our jars—but this idea will work with any recipe you fancy, from pumpkin muffins and snickerdoodle cookies to hot cocoa mix and beyond. Ready to get started?

Here’s What You’ll Need

  • small glass jars
  • burlap
  • cute string for tying
  • folded gift tag card (we bought ours pre-scored)
  • personalized gift tags (we used our Timeless Harvest design)
  • your favorite recipe ingredients

Step 1: Print and Punch

Print out your recipe instructions at home on white paper. Cut to the size of your gift tag card and glue inside, pressing firmly along the fold. Once it’s dry, punch a hole in the top left corner, stick your cute gift tag to the outside and set aside.

Step 2: Assemble Your Jars

Fill your jars with your ingredients. Be careful when you measure everything out as you’ll be reducing the recipe to a single or double serving size. Stack the ingredients gently so they look pretty through the glass!

Step 3: Wrap and Tie

When all your ingredients are in the jar, seal the lid tightly. Cut your burlap into a circle large enough to cover the lid. Loop the string through your instructions card. Center your burlap over the top and wrap the string around the burlap and jar, just under the lid. Tie a bow or knot it at the end.

Step 4: Display and Delight!

No matter what’s inside, guests are sure to love these party favors!

DIY Valentine’s Day Treats

7:22:44 by Jessy | 3 Comments

If Superbowl Sunday is here, that means that Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. While you’re watching the game today, you can start planning this fun DIY food session to create darling treats for the sweetest day of the year. And, since Valentine’s Day falls on a Monday this year, these will be perfect for your kiddos to take to school and share with their friends!

Supplies for a Hershey Kiss Bouquet

  • Pink or red cellophane paper
  • Hershey Kisses
  • Green scrapbook or construction paper
  • Wooden skewers
  • Floral tape
  • Classroom valentine from Tiny Prints (we used our Fashionable Request design)
  • Tape
  • Ribbon
  • Hole punch

Step 1: Create your buds

With a piece of tape, secure two kisses together by their flat side. Cut your cellophane into a square large enough to wrap around both kisses. Secure your skewer into either pointy end of the kisses. Center the other pointy end in the square piece of cellophane and wrap them, twisting at the base of the skewer.

Step 2: Wrap your stems and attach your card

Cut as many leaves as you like and wrap them into the stem as you are covering it with floral tape. Lastly, punch a hole in your personalized valentine so you can secure it to your stems with your ribbon.

Step 3: Give it to your valentine!

Supplies for Homemade Treat Bags

  • Clear treat bags from your local craft store
  • Pretzels, brownies and marshmallows
  • Heart-shaped cookie cutter
  • White and dark chocolate for melting
  • Pink or red food coloring
  • Sprinkles
  • Stapler
  • Ribbon
  • Classroom valentines from Tiny Prints (we used our Handwritten Happy and Crafty Hearts designs)
  • Matching Valentine’s Day gift stickers from Tiny Prints

Step 1: Make and decorate your treats

Using your cookie cutter, cut out the brownies and marshmallows into little hearts. Melt your chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second increments (be sure not to burn it!). Option: turn your white chocolate pink or red with food coloring.  When your chocolate is all ready, decorate away!

Step 2: Package your goodies

Gently place your treats into the clear treat bags and secure them with your personalized stickers or staple them shut using your classroom valentines at the top.

Voila! You now have three fun new ways to make Valentine’s Day just a little bit sweeter.

Treats and Sweets for Valentine’s Day: You Tell Us

2:34:15 by Jessy | No Comments

Do you believe that a way to a person’s heart is through their stomach? If so, Valentine’s Day is the ultimate holiday for winning someone over with food! Whether you go out for a delicious dinner, exchange candies and chocolate or share a sweet dessert, food seems to be the focus of February 14th. We’ve gathered together some of our favorite Valentine’s Day treats and sweets—do you agree with our selections? Leave us a comment below!

Classic Candies

Receiving a candy heart that says “BE MINE” is as charming today as it was in grade school. There’s a reason these darling candies come back year after year.

French Macarons

The French are known for romance, and we think that this delightful little treat is one of their best expressions of love.

Filet Mignon

Sweet may not be for everyone—even on Valentine’s Day. If you prefer a savory “treat” over a sugar rush, a classic steak is the way to go.

Breakfast in Bed

There are few things more exciting in the morning than pancakes in bed—unless of course they are shaped like hearts!

Fondue

What’s more satisfying than dipping slices of fruit and bread into warm chocolate and cheese? We think nothing.

Homemade Gourmet

If you’re handy in the kitchen, making something from scratch is the perfectly sweet way to share your love. This chocolate cherry stack cake would be especially delectable on Valentine’s Day.
