With the warm summer months approaching, we couldn’t help but dream of the beach, the salty ocean breeze and sand in our toes when we designed this nautical-inspired Preppy Whale boy’s birthday party!
The adorable Tiny Prints “Whale Spout” invitation served as the inspiration for the party’s color scheme of orange, white, navy and sky blue set on a backdrop of khaki burlap to evoke the look of sand!
To set the sweets-table stage, we filled a beverage dispenser with blue “ocean water” punch and filled candy jars with scrumptious sweets, including blue raspberry gummy rings, orange gumballs and, of course, blueberry salt water taffy – reminiscent of cruising the boardwalk! A pod of sweet blue whale sugar cookies sit next to white-frosted cupcakes adorned with navy and orange paper wrappers and polka dot ribbon flag toppers.
Beach buckets are essential to any ocean-related party. We used orange plastic buckets that doubled as a lunch container and a take-home favor for summertime play and sand castle building. We love serving packaged lunches at parties. They can be assembled ahead of time and it cuts down on the amount of time you spend in the kitchen during the party, allowing you to actually enjoy the celebration!
We floated navy and orange polka dot balloons that looked like ocean bubbles above the kids table for a whimsical feel.
Little party guests are sure to have a “whale-of-a-time” at this sweet & simple Preppy Whale soiree!
