Can you tell us a little bit about yourself? I am a 5th grade teacher and a professional portrait photographer, specializing in photographing kids, families, and high school seniors. I live in San Diego, California, and I’m usually up for most any outdoor activity – running, paddle-boarding, or laying by the pool. I aspire to one day write a children’s book, I’d be lost without the Food Network, and helping people feel beautiful makes me happy.

How did you get started as a photographer? I first became interested in photography when I was pursuing my Masters Degree in Education and desperately needed a creative outlet. I signed up for a photography course at a local university, which led me to spend a summer studying Digital Photography at the New York School of Visual Arts. Even though I was initially only interested in photographing children, over half my business now consists of photographing high school seniors. Because of my teaching background, I am connected to a great community of families; I feel very blessed to have the world’s greatest clients!

What type of locations do you like to use for your photo shoots? The most important thing to me when considering a location is sun, sun, sun! There is something dreamy and wonderful that only the sun can produce in an image. My ideal location is sunlit and natural with lots of trees and texture.

How would you describe your style? I create colorful, sunlit images that show my subjects looking their best. I truly see beauty in everyone and love drawing it out! Connecting with my subjects in an authentic way is not only one of my favorite parts of this job, but absolutely necessary. The natural, joyful feeling that’s present in my images is a result of my subjects feeling totally at ease in front of my lens.

Lindsey’s photography can be found on two of our new Valentine’s Day cards.

This is one of my favorite sessions to date! I got to photograph these six cousins – three sisters on each side of the family. We photographed at sunset on Mission Bay where the families spend much of their summers.
