We are thrilled to have Tara from Spot of Tea Designs sharing her daughter’s first birthday party with us today.
I’m Tara from Spot of Tea Designs and I’m so excited to share my daughter’s first birthday party here with Tiny Prints readers. I took the “semi-homemade” approach to mix in some DIY elements with some purchased items and was so happy with how it turned out!
My original theme included pinwheels, but once I chose the Precious One Tiny Prints invitation, chalkboard elements were added to the big day.
My main focus for decorations was the all-important dessert table. I repurposed the polka dot garland my best friend made for my baby shower and a paper medallion kit to set the stage with a fun backdrop.
I added a punched border to a cardboard cupcake stand then filled it with cupcakes and other tasty treats. Guests munched on cupcakes, smores and chocolate covered Oreos for dessert. YUM!
Since large chalkboards were too expensive to buy for a one time purpose, I DIYed my own with black foam board and metallic paint pens. I included stats on who she is and what she likes at this precious one year of age.
Guests viewed favorite photos of Brielle’s first year with a Shutterfly photobook that acted as a guest book.
I knew all eyes would be on my little girl when it came time for her first taste of sugar. To capture this yummy event, I custom made a “ONE” garland for her highchair and let her sample away!
Upon leaving, everyone received a pinwheel cookie pop beautifully made by my friend Cherylin for their car ride home and the kids received a coloring book and pack of crayons.
We were so blessed to have such a great celebration with our closest family members and made sure to thank them with a beautiful card featuring our baby girl!
