We think we’ve found the perfect (and easiest) way to get kids excited about eating their lunch… or eating a food they don’t usually love. And, lucky for you, it only takes a few supplies and a few minutes.
When we put together this simple DIY project, the reaction around the office was overwhelming. People loved it and couldn’t wait to take home one of the finished samples for their kids. Unfortunately, there weren’t any kids around the office for us to do a test run on… but we’d love to hear how your kids react!
Butterfly Snack Supplies
- Ziplock snack-sized bags
- Clothespins
- White glue
- Glitter
- Pipe cleaners
- Snacks!
Step 1: Glue It
Apply white glue evenly along one side of the clothespin.
Step 2: Make It Sparkle
Add your glitter over a sheet of paper. Pour it on the wet glue and shake off any excess on the sheet of paper.
Step 3: Clip It
Separate your snacks to both sides of the bag, so the center is left clear for your clothespin. (Try to get as much air out as you can.) Next cut your pipe cleaner to a shorter length. Once you’ve added your clothespin, fold the pipe cleaner in half and clip it inside the clothespin.
Step 4: Voilà!
There you go folks. It’s as easy as that. (But if you want to make your butterfly even more special, you can add little jewels for eyes!)
If you try this craft, or any of our DIY ideas at home, send photos to blog@tinyprints.com. We’d love to feature them. Happy crafting!

I could handle everything but the glitter here. Ban the glitter :p However, great idea! I’m so going to try this. I’ll let my boys decorate the clip.
@DKiss – instead of glitter just color the clip with a large colorful Sharpie. Worked for me and was super fast.
We used glitter glue, because all i could picture was glitter all over the lunch box.
What a cute suprise for back to school!!!! Love it!!!
These would be cute in loot bags and the birthday kids could make them themselves.
Instead of glitter, you can color pastina to put on there or use sesame or poppy seeds
I am trying to think of a way to pretzel rods for the body instead of clothespins
