St. Patrick’s Day is just around the way and if you’re looking for a fun way to celebrate with the kids, behold our anti-pinch plan. Folklore has it that wearing green makes you invisible to leprechauns—little creatures who delight in pinching anyone they can see. So, getting pinched by others is a friendly reminder that if you don’t don the green, the leprechauns will come to get you. Here are a few cute ways to prevent the pinch…

String Bracelet

  • Green and gold beads
  • Jewelry string

While a little time consuming, this project is fairly easy. String the beads to your desired length and knot at each end. Make sure to leave space at one end for the “clasp” bead.

At the other end, create a loop for the single bead to fit through and knot again. Now it’s ready to wear!

Hair Accessories

Get your glue gun out. These two gems can be created in a snap.

  • Festive ribbon
  • Craft pom poms
  • Alligator clips and jewelry pins
  • Glue gun

Glue green pom poms onto a alligator clip. Once it’s dry, it’s ready to scare off those little leprechauns.

The kids might need some help tying a ribbon bow. Once you’ve got it the way you like it, glue it to your pin or clip and it’ll be good to go.

Nails

Last but not least, we have two cute nail projects that are sure to delight the ladies in the family.

  • Green nail polish
  • Top coat
  • Gold glitter
  • Craft glue and a toothpick
  • Nail polish remover and cotton ball

Pot o’ Gold: Paint every nail but one your favorite shade of green. Use top coat on the sole nail as a base, and then sprinkle with gold glitter. Let all nails dry thoroughly, then put a layer of top coat over them all.

Lucky Charm: Paint all of your nails your favorite shade of green. Once dry, use craft glue and a toothpick to make a small four-leaf clover on a single nail. Let it dry completely again. Then, use nail polish remover on a cotton ball to take off the nail polish on the clover nail—don’t worry about maneuvering around the clover, the glue will stay-put… like magic!

However you decide to ward off the leprechauns this March 17th, we hope these fun ideas will help you paint the town green.

We are having a St. Patrick’s Day treasure hunt, I can’t wait! A magical leprechaun will be hiding 48 gold coins all over the house for the kids to find next Saturday morning. A friend introduced the idea, so I made up little glitter shamrock bags & found gold plastic coins. (And now we’re selling them on Etsy, too!)
