Today’s DIY is a perfect summer craft project for the kiddos. July 4th is fast approaching and if you want to add some pizzazz to your party, these red, white and blue lanterns are sure to make some sparks.
- Red, white and blue tissue paper
- Mod Podge and brush
- Mason jars
- Votive candles
- Festive ribbon
Step 1: Trim Your Tissue
Cut your tissue paper up into the shapes of your choice. Long vertical strips that run the length of the jar or squares for a fun layered look both work well.
Step 2: Paint and Apply
Use your mod podge and brush to lightly coat the outside of each jar. Then, gently apply your tissue paper strips in your favorite arrangement. Lastly, make sure to leave ample time for drying (at least an hour or two).
Step 3: Tie and Display
Add your ribbon at the top, tie a bow, put a candle in the bottom and… voila! Display your lanterns as dining centerpieces, line them down the sidewalk or put them inside for cute tabletop decor.
And don’t forget to order July 4th invitations to gather everyone together!
