DIY S’mores Party Favors

S’mores are a quintessential summer camp treat, and what makes them so great is that they are oh-so-simple. Stick a marshmallow on the end of a stick, roast over a campfire until gooey, plop it in a chocolate and graham cracker sandwich and you’ve got yourself a childhood classic.

It’s the sweet simplicity of a s’more that also makes it the perfect party favor gift—especially if you’re planning a summer camp-themed event. For a super easy DIY favor, get the kids together, grab a bag of marshmallows and get started on this fun little project. It’s sure to bring up cherished memories of childhood summers gone by (and even make a few new ones, too!).

  • Chocolate bars that can be easily broken into squares
  • Graham crackers
  • Large marshmallows
  • Wooden skewers
  • Cellophane bags
  • Ribbon
  • Personalized gift tags (we used these Owl Fun gift tag stickers from Tiny Prints!)

Step 1: Prep the Chocolate and Graham Crackers

Break the chocolate and graham crackers into squares (a great job for the kids if they can keep from eating it all!), then stack six graham crackers at the base of your cellophane bag.

On top of the graham crackers, add three squares of chocolate. This will make for three ooey gooey s’mores per favor bag!

Step 2: Prep the Marshmallows

To get your marshmallows ready, poke the sharp end of your skewers just far enough into the marshmallows so that they are secure (but don’t go through to the other side). Then nestle the skewered marshmallows next to the stacked up chocolate and graham crackers.

We used short skewers to make the bags look cute, but these little ones probably wouldn’t be much use over an open fire. Feel free to use longer skewers if you’d like!

Step 3: Finish the S’mores Favor Packaging

Tie a ribbon around the top of each s’mores favor bag, making sure to leave enough room at the base so the ingredients can all sit comfortably.

Next, smooth out the front of the bag and attach your charming little gift tag. We personalized ours to say, “Take Home S’more Fun!” but with a word as fun as “s’more” to work with, the personalization possibilities are endless!

Step 4: Display, Distribute and Enjoy Your S’mores Favors!

We thought they were so cute, we decided to display our s’mores favors along with our rustic camping-themed party invitation and a fun wooden stump centerpiece we had lying around the office. These cute little favors really made our summer camp party theme come to life! Now, if only we could find a good campfire around here…
