Thanksgiving is right around the corner and we love taking the turkey theme to stylish, new heights. While the bird of honor isn’t traditionally known for high style, the sophisticated feather on this Thanksgiving photo card inspired us to use it as the theme throughout our whole affair. This garland is just one way to add a festive feathered touch.
Here’s how to transform washi tape into a garland worthy of your Thanksgiving table…
What you need:
- Washi tape
Cut two 4-inch strips of washi tape. Then cut a 7-inch piece of string and place it in the middle of the washi tape, leaving about 3 inches of string on one end.
Stick the other piece of washi tape over the string. Make sure to press down well, especially on either side of the string—this makes the spine of your feather.
Cut two more 4-inch strips of washi tape and double up each side of the feather with a second layer to make it extra sturdy.
Cut the top and bottom of the tape in a half moon. Then make small cuts on the edges to give it the feathery effect.
Cut a piece of string long enough to span the table or wall you’re hanging it on. Tie each feather on to the string. Hang and watch the style unfold!
