We are so excited to have Jess and Laurie from Ruthie and Rose share their fun holiday card display DIY!

Hi there! We are Ruthie and Rose – two Southern gals who created a little happy place for all things pretty, patterned and fashionably playful! From the art of entertaining to discovering new trends on a budget, Ruthie & Rose is the perfect spot to sit back, relax and sip from our own little cup of joy.

It’s that time of year when loved ones send warm wishes and holiday greetings. Living in the digital age that we do, there’s something quite magical about receiving a personalized card in the mail. The thoughtfulness really shows that someone cares.

So what to do when holiday cards and party invitations start to stack up? Display them all season long as part of the cheer and create an easy-to-make centerpiece that will certainly keep the conversations flowing.

With some simple supplies and using items you may have on-hand, you can create a whimsical card display to showcase these special mementos from family and friends.

Supplies needed:

  • Satin ribbon, in your choice of color
  • Scissors
  • Double sided adhesive tape
  • Large vase or deep bowl
  • Mini Christmas tree* (ours is roughly 24 inches in height)

*Tip: If you don’t have a mini Christmas tree – get creative! Pick up some long branches from your backyard, a nearby park or local craft store. You can spray-paint the branches white to lend a wintry feel.

Step 1: Cut ribbon to various lengths, 8 – 10 inches, and create a loop by taping ends together with double sided adhesive tape. Then tape ribbon loop to the back of the card. Repeat until all cards have a ribbon loop attached.

Step 2: Arrange the Christmas tree in the large vase or deep bowl. We used a ceramic holiday serving bowl. If you decide to use branches and have a clear vase, be sure to utilize small rocks, fake “snow” or another type of filler to arrange the branches properly.

Step 3: Lastly – and easily – hang your beautiful cards on the tree branches and space accordingly to how you like! We added a holly berry wreath around the centerpiece for a final touch. Enjoy and watch how guests will delight over this charming display.
