January can be a bit of a drag for the kiddos… the holidays are over, school is back in session, there isn’t even snow to play in! (Okay, well not in Northern California at least.) If you’re looking for a little pick-me-up for the little ones, give this cute craft project a try.
- Glue gun
- Glitter paint
- Paint pen
- Embellishments (like tiny pom poms, scrapbook decorations and more!)
Step 1: Paint Your Base
Use your paint pen to cover the clothespin completely. Set aside to dry.
Step 2: Cut, Trim, Craft
For the more simple scrapbook decoration (like our adorable ice skates above) it’s a one step glue n’ go operation. Creating the mittens will take a few steps. First, fold your felt in half and trace the desired shape of your mitten on the felt. Cut it out (through both layers) so both mittens are uniform. Go crazy with your glitter paint, pom poms… whatever their little hearts desire.
Step 3: Get Gluing
Secure your magnet to the back of the clothespin. You should be able to find magnet with an adhesive backing (easy peasy!). Next, glue gun your wintery creation to the front of the clothespin and set aside to dry. When assembling your mittens, glue the string down first, then the felt. Note: Glitter paint takes a while to dry, so make sure your mittens are good to go before touching.
Step 4: Display and Clip
Once they’re dry, your cute new magnets are ready to put up and use to hang photos, calendars, to-do lists and more! Cute, right?
