When it came to planning my baby shower my friends and family incorporated my love for shabby chic into the overall theme. From the burlap and lace table runner and rustic design to the Mason jar drinking glasses, fabric garland backdrop and tiered ruffle tablecloth, they celebrated Baby Riley’s upcoming arrival in the most fitting way.
We chose Tiny Prints Baby Board: Bloom Invitations for the shower, as they complimented the shabby chic theme perfectly with their vintage design and chic style. They were able to incorporate the design from the invitations into the party through chalkboard accents.
To set the tone for the shower a pastel color scheme that featured pale pink, silver blue and ivory was combined with varying shades of burlap and lace accents. A vintage feel was created by using Mason jars with pink and white stripe straws for the punch and wooden utensils that were placed in Mason jars wrapped in burlap and lace.
A pale pink three layer rustic buttercream cake with a pink bunting cake topper took the spotlight on the food and dessert table. Surrounding the cake was an array of foods and desserts. To the left of the cake sat a display of finger foods including chicken salad croissants, veggie sandwiches, guacamole dip, lil’ smokies and a fruit tray. To the right of the cake sat a display of delicious desserts from strawberry shortcake cups to rock candy suckers and chocolate and pink peanut butter crackers.
The living room was decorated with a beautiful banner full of Riley’s onesies, blankets, bibs and burp clothes. Each end of the banner was tied with a burlap bow and pink and white balloons.
Keeping with the shabby chic design throughout, a silver blue lace table cloth covered the bistro table in the kitchen with a birdcage full of Pink Hershey kisses announcing “It’s a girl.”
