From enduring a makeover from a 5-year-old to waiting in obnoxiously long lines for the year’s hottest toy, parents go to great lengths to make their little ones happy. Often, these efforts make mom and dad happy too! When a fellow staffer shared this charming twig crayons set with me, I fell in love—but then I saw the price tag.

$150

Is this crayon set totally adorable or ridiculously overpriced? Do you splurge on your kids if it’s something that appeals to you also? Would you spend a large sum on a premium product when you could find something similar for much less?  You tell us!

It depends..I sometimes splurge on things that are more for me than the kids. NOw, for these cute twig crayons…$150 is way way way too much. YOu can get a set of 8 at Anthropologie [not exactly a cheap store] for like $12 bucks. I think $150 for 20 crayons and a twig bucket is a total rip off.

    Thanks for weighing in, Kat!

They are soo cute! If I spent the money on the (which I wouldnt) I wouldnt even want my son to use them because he might break them! We do buy somethings that are $$ just because I like them, or my son likes them. But not for Crayons!

It’s insane! A 5 yr. old would never know about this crayon set, unless an adult showed it to them. I think parents are the ones to motivate the “must-have” fads. I think the bucket is very cute, but the price certainly is not. Spend the money on something worth while….like art lessons. Buy the $10 set of oil pastels and the experience alone will far outweigh the cost of the ER bill to get stitches from using a pocket knife to sharpen them! lol. Of course, to each his own!

I found a smaller one 12 crayons and a smaller box for $28.00 thats not bad to me.
