There they sit, right by the entrance where stacks of mangoes or oranges usually greet me. I’ve been watching for them, anxiously awaiting their arrival, and yet I almost walk right by, preoccupied as I am by the late hour and my gnawing hunger. The sign catches my eye as I’m almost through the door. I turn around and dash back through the automatic doors before they slam shut on me.
The apricots are ripe and beautiful. Their reddish orange flesh looks delicious and juicy and I really can’t wait to sink my teeth into them. Even better, I can’t wait to buy a dozen and bring them home triumphantly. For weeks now my fruit obsessed daughters have been begging for apricots, tonight they will get their wish.
I can’t wait to see them take their first bite!
