You’ve been bustling around all afternoon getting dinner ready. Things are bubbling in one pot, roasting in one oven, crisping in the other. The kitchen is steamy and warm and it smells delightful. You know it’s going to be a delicious meal. All that’s missing are the guests.
The first ones ring the bell and you let them in. It’s just the few of you so you head back to the kitchen to keep an eye on dinner. You uncork a bottle of wine and pass out some glasses. Everyone relaxes, leaning against a counter, perched on a chair. It’s easy, fun, comfortable.
It’s the pre-party in the kitchen. And it’s my favorite part of any time we have guests over to our house. Just another one of those Tiny Pleasures.
