I was reading an article recently that mentioned that the British government holds parents accountable for a child’s acts of violence. I love the thought of the mother of a playground bully having to pay the price of her child’s inappropriate behavior, but this entire issue has me wondering—are little bouts of violent behavior normal, or is physical fighting never okay in your household?

How do you encourage your kids to resolve their differences in a nonviolent way? What is your reaction when they lash out? Do you think it’s a parent’s fault if a child resorts violence? You tell us!

  1. I am not a mom but I am arouind kids all the time and you really notice a difference of kids who are raised to respect and those who aren’t. I think the parents should be held accountable but at the same time they are kids so they will have behavior hic-ups as they grow up. It is all in how the parents handle those hic-ups that make a difference.

    ro-sham-bo… non violent alternative.

  3. My personal opinion is that parents need to be responsible for their children’s behavior and actions.

Children are born innocent with a blank slate; everything they learn is from home and they mimic everything they see.

Unless a child has abnormal brain chemistry which compels him /her to act violently, there’s nor reason to have violent children. The so-called “normal” bullies need to learn manners, respect and that they can never touch or hurt another individual, whether it’s physical or emotional!

Since there are thousands of parents who are not taking an active role in raising their own children properly, society needs to step in to control the situation before it gets out of hand…

I hate to say this, but I am also in favor of having “deadbeats” (criminals, drug addicts, pedophiles) surgically sterilized so they cannot have children!!!

Besides, what kind of ethics can they ever teach their children? If they had any, they wouldn’t be deadbeats!

    thanks for letting me share!
