November is here, and that means the holiday season is only a hop, skip and a few weeks away. If you’re planning a holiday party this year, now is the perfect time to think about the theme, style, decor and menu you have in mind. After all, it’s a downhill slide from here into Thanksgiving, gift shopping madness and all the crazy fun of December!

So here are a few ideas to get you started. From black and white galas to silly Christmas sweater parties, these holiday party invitation themes are sure to get you in the party planning spirit.

What look are you leaning toward for your holiday celebration this year?

A Simple & Elegant Affair

I love the way this colorful holiday party invitation almost shimmers. The soft rings of color remind me of warm, glowing Christmas lights and the opening scenes of some of my favorite holiday movies.

Black & White Ball

One the best holiday parties I’ve ever thrown was a black and white party. All of the guests wore strictly black or white, and we had food and drinks to match the theme (with punches of red scattered around for fun!).

A Christmas Wrapping Party

Who says your holiday event has to be a glamorous evening affair? Host a holiday wrapping party to encourage your friends to wrap their gifts and finish prepping for the big celebration.

Tacky Christmas Sweater Parties & Winter Hat Parties

Whether you ask everyone to don their most horrible Christmas sweaters or to wear their favorite winter hats, these party themes are sure to result in some of the best pictures of the season.

Holiday Cookie Swap

Have all of your friends bring their favorite holiday cookies, then provide tupperware for everyone to take home a mixed-and-matched selection of their favorite treats.

Winter Activities Parties

From ice skating to snowball fights, sledding and caroling, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the crisp winter weather all season long. So why not turn your favorite activities into a party theme too?

A Holiday Dinner Party

No matter which winter holiday you and your family celebrate, there’s always one common theme that runs through them all—food! Put your favorite traditional recipes on display with a fun and festive dinner party this season.

Ornament Exchange Parties

This is a tradition among my group of friends. Everyone brings an ornament to exchange, then we all fight over who gets to take home our favorites, from sports-themed ornaments to goofy reindeer, hot pink heels covered in glitter and elegant, rustic designs.

White Elephant Gift Exchanges

Unlike a normal gift exchange, White Elephant parties don’t require a lot of time and effort to prepare. Simply tell your guests to clean out their closets and get rid of those s’mores makers and holiday log DVDs they never use!

Gingerbread House Decorating Party

Perfect for kids (or parents with a sweet tooth!), this party is sure to be sticky-sweet fun. Arrange all the supplies, then encourage your guests to get creative.

I love that first one, wish I had seen it before I ordered my invites. However, I still love the ones I ordered. They are the perfect balance of festive (poinsettia), yet tropical! http://www.tinyprints.com/product/19538/flat_holiday_party_invitations_poinsettia_villa.html
