There’s a baby boom happening at the Tiny Prints offices! Here’s a guest post from one of our excited mommies-to-be, Simona:
Just like all the other pregnant mommies here, I have been busy planning the look of our nursery. We have been looking at cribs and dressers, sheets and blankets, and all sorts of cute accessories. While this has been a lot of fun, one thing that I realized is that I want the baby to sleep in the same room with me and my husband for the first few months. So while we have everything planned for the nursery, we really needed to start thinking about what the baby could sleep in while in our room.
Of course safety is our top concern when it comes to where the baby sleeps. But we also want something that doesn’t go to waste after the first few months. With so many different options out there, the decision has not been an easy one to make.
Here are some options that we have been thinking about:
This is a bassinet that has the option of attaching to your side of the bed. Might make middle of the night feedings a little easier.
The Pack and Play
This comes with lots and lots of accessories. It has an area for the baby to sleep while he is still under 15 pounds, a convertible changing table, a mobile and later on turns into a travel play yard.
More Traditional Bassinets (with Options!)
The one we are looking at comes with a convertible changing table, storage baskets and a diaper stacker. The top also removes from the base and becomes a Moses basket.
The Gliding Bassinet
This bassinet features music, natural sounds and a gliding motion that is supposed to help your baby fall asleep.
These are just a few of the hundreds of options we have seen. And I know that no matter what we decide to go with, the baby is going to be the one who decides where he likes to sleep. I have heard of babies sleeping in their bouncy chairs or even car seats, so we will see what our little guy likes.
Going back to the safety issue, while we are still searching for that perfect bassinet, one thing that we did decide on was to get a baby movement monitor. There are many options out there, but we heard of this great one that clips on to the baby’s diaper so no matter where the baby sleeps, he will be monitored.
