This Independence Day we’re celebrating by watching the fireworks over the bay on a cruise boat. This is most ambitious plan we’ve ever had—usually we’re that family that thinks about heading out (way too late) and gets caught in traffic, only to miss the fireworks completely. And when the kids were little, we’d just stay home and watch the Boston Pops on television.

Go 4th and Celebrate!

But this year, an old friend of my husband’s family will be in town from overseas to visit on this holiday, so we are upping our Fourth of July fireworks-watching game. The plan is to have dinner with their family (we’ll be a party of 9!) in the city,  then we’ll all board the boat for a prime bay-side view of the show. I’m excited to go along for the ride and celebrate our country’s birthday in this nautical fashion. I’ll just be tucking the Dramamine in my purse before we shove off—you know, just in case.

What are your plans for the Fourth of July?
