By now, you’ve probably heard that the rumors are true—Oprah will be ending her talk show, which has been one of the most influential and enduring television shows in history, on September 9, 2011. I had one of my dreams come true the other day. I had the fortune of seeing Oprah in person at her annual O You! magazine seminar in San Francisco. The day turned out to be one of the best days of my life, surrounded by 4,000 people including 14 men, 1 of which was my husband and the rest women. Ms. Winfrey herself surprised the crowd by showing up at the end of the day. Besides being graced with her presence and her friends including Gayle King, Suze Orman, Martha Beck and Nate Berkus to name a few, the whole day taught me a lot, one thing of which I would like to share with you.

Speaking to the majority of women out there, she expressed our need to give to others relentlessly and not put ourselves as a priority. I wanted to relay the message for all of you mothers out there working hard to take care of your children, your husband and everyone else. Remember to be kind to yourself. Take some time to relax, spend time with friends and just be. Take it from me and Oprah!
