Thanksgiving is right around the corner, which probably means you are busy planning your menu, prepping the kitchen and calling friends and relatives to confirm what time they should show up for the festivities.

In all of your party planning however, don’t forget to think about what you and your family will do with all of those leftovers! Here’s a list of unique recipes that include leftover turkey in fun, international dishes. Delish!

Holiday Card Parties

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Post by Jessica R.

Once you’ve decided if you’re going to go with candid or posed pictures,  gone through the arduous fun task of taking the photos and picked out the perfect holiday Cards, you still have to address the envelopes and get them all mailed out.

Now, if you are super smart you will embrace and love the new Tiny Prints mailing service. You upload your mailing list and we send out the cards. We’ll even email your old college roommate and ask her for her mailing address first. Really.

But if you want to write cute little notes and hand address the cards, you might need more motivation than endless reruns of Ace of Cakes and Bridezilla.

That’s what the Holiday Card Party is for.

Gather up your best girl friends. Hire a sitter to entertain everyone’’s kids. Bake a couple dozen cookies and whip up some festive eggnog, a fancy frostini or some fun margaritas. Put out lots of bright colorful pens, glue sticks and anything else you might need to get those cards signed and sealed. Then see how many cards everyone can get through in a two or three hour stretch!

There’s no better motivation than fun drinks, great friends and a few child-free hours.

Decor Delights: Extra Tables for Holiday Parties

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

My family is hosting Thanksgiving dinner for 25 people this year, which has me both excited and a little nervous. How are we going to fit all of those people in our house, let alone ensure they get fed and leave feeling satisfied?

One of the solutions we’re going with this year is to have a Thanksgiving buffet with seating spread all around the house—a solution that’s perfect except that we don’t want people balancing their food on their laps!

As a result, I love this post from Apartment Therapy about how to add extra tables to your home during parties and other events. Our Thanksgiving guests will now have a place to put their plates (even if it happens to be a re-purposed nightstand, suitcase or stool!).
