You Tell Us: Are Classic Children’s Books Still on Your Kids’ Reading Lists?

Friday, September 11th, 2009

If you look at the New York Times Bestselling Children’s Books list for this week, you see titles like Goldilicious and Llama Llama Misses His Mama. I hardly recognize any of these modern titles, but there’s one on the list that definitely pulled at my heartstrings—Amelia Bedelia Goes Back to School.

I loved the Amelia Bedelia series when I was a kid. I still remember how she made a sketch of the drapes when she was asked to “draw the curtains” and how she put pants and a bow tie on a chicken when she was told to “dress” it.

Knowing that kids today still love classics like Amelia Bedelia makes me happy. What other classic children’s books do your kids still enjoy? What’s on your their’ must-read lists? Charlotte’s Web? Wind in the Willows? Goodnight, Moon? You tell us!
