Super Bowl Party Invitations from Tiny Prints

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

Many Tiny Talk readers know that I adore the San Diego Chargers and never miss a game if I can help it. But a lot of my friends and family members won’t watch a single minute of football until they gather together around platters of wings and bowls of guacamole for their annual Super Bowl parties. Whether you’re a die hard fan or a casual Super Bowl party attendee, now is the time to start planning your festivities for Super Bowl XLIII!

The first step, of course, is ordering your invitations. One of the best things about Tiny Prints is that you can customize all of our invitations to suit the occasion you are celebrating. Take these kids’ birthday party invitations, for instance:

Both of these sporty birthday party invitations can be transformed into Super Bowl party invitations using our state-of-the-art personalization process!

I admit that there’s a slight chance that the Chargers won’t make it to the Super Bowl, but making these invitations was too much fun to pass up! We won’t find out who is going to the championship until January 18th, so you might want to personalize your invites with general information and pictures of the kids playing football so you can send them out well in advance. Or, you could always order your invitations the day the playoffs end—with rush processing and overnight shipping, you will be on your way to hosting the best Super Bowl bash in town!

Fun Alternative Sports for Kids

Monday, August 18th, 2008

For many families, the back-to-school season also means back-to-sports. Organized team activities like soccer, baseball and softball can be great ways for kids to make friends, learn about teamwork and develop a passion for physical activity. Plus, the 2008 Olympic Games offer great inspiration for kids and parents alike to pursue fun sports and fitness activities during this time of year.

But, if your kids are slacking on the soccer field, don’t be too quick to count them out as natural athletes just yet!

Family Education has an interesting article explaining that many kids quit sports simply because they aren’t having fun. When I was in school, I was always the girl sitting in the outfield making daisy necklaces while the other kids played kickball. I wasn’t even vaguely interested in team sports until I started playing tennis in the eighth grade and fell in love.

So, if your kids don’t seem excited by sports these days, why not give some of these alternative sport ideas from PBS a try? They are a fun way to keep your kids entertained and energized all school year long!

  • Badminton
  • Baton twirling
  • Fencing
  • Figure skating
  • Karate
  • Kayaking
  • Mountain biking
  • Rock climbing
  • Sculling (rowing)
  • Skateboarding
  • Surfing
  • Synchronized swimming
  • Tennis
  • Triathlons
  • Wakeboarding
  • Water skiing

If your kids still insist that they don’t like sports, have them take a look at this helpful article from Kids Health. You can also start including them in activities you enjoy, taking short hikes or playing a few holes of golf with the kids in tow. Before you know it, your whole family will be happy, healthy and enjoying the beautiful fall weather together!

Celebrate the 2008 Summer Olympics

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

With the 2008 Summer Olympics beginning next week, now is the perfect time to teach your kids all about the cherished tradition, the history of the games and all the fun sports they may not already know about. You could even find Beijing on a world map together, look up kid-friendly articles about the Olympics in National Geographic Kids or create some homemade flags and streamers to wave while you watch the games at home.

To really get in the spirit of the games, throw a Summer Olympics Party! You can easily transform these patriotic summer party invitations to reflect your Olympic theme. Then, set up fun relay races for kids and parents alike, and hand out ribbons and homemade medals to all the participants. Head over to the park and try pairing classic games like three-legged races, marshmallow eating contests and limbo with traditional track and field contests like the long jump, a Frisbee shot put toss and a team relay race.

By highlighting the fun of Olympic sports, the history of the games and the amazing way that athletes from all over the world come together for one spectacular event, you might just inspire your little ones to run, jump or shot put for the stars!
