Kids Ceramics Painting Parties

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Kids absolutely love to paint their own ceramics. One of our creative coworkers spent a day with his daughter this weekend at a ceramics shop, and all of the little ones in my family have been begging us to visit Clay ‘N’ Latte all summer long. This obsession with ceramics painting is nothing new, either—it reminds me of my ninth birthday party, which I spent with all of my friends at the local Kids ‘n’ Paint shop covering a little ceramic puppy dog with hot pink glitter.

Kids ceramics painting parties are a great way to indulge your child’s artistic inclinations, not to mention a simple way to entertain guests for two hours and send each one home with a handmade party favor!

Kick off your event with a fun birthday party invitation that showcases the guest of honor in an artistic way. Try this Painter’s Studio birthday party invitation from our new Studio Basics line, which offers affordable designs without compromising on Tiny Prints trademark high quality and fresh, modern design.

Contact your local ceramics shop, like Clay ‘N’ Latte, Kids ‘N’ Paint or Color Me Mine, to arrange a time and date. Plan your party for the mid-afternoon so that you won’t be responsible for serving the guests lunch. Pack some cupcakes and snacks, bring plenty of bottled water and get ready to get messy painting your ceramic creations all afternoon long! It’s sweet, simple and sure to transform your little ones and their friends into first rate artists!

A New Kind of Baby Shower

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

I’ve been to my fair share of baby showers, and am happy to say that each and every one has had its own unique twist, whether it be creative games, decor or location.  However, I recently stumbled across this adorable “Charm” Baby Shower, and I couldn’t resist writing about it.  I think it’s particularly great for a baby shower for a second or third child, once you have all the “baby goods” that you’ll need.

The idea is this: in lieu of gifts, each guest brings a small charm or bead that represents one special wish for the baby’s life.  For example, a tiny charm of a tree might represent that you hope the baby grows up to be strong, tall and resilient.  A bead with an image of a heart on it might mean that you hope the baby’s life is full of love from beginning to end.  Whoever is throwing the shower will bring a chain or bracelet to string all of the charms on.  By shower’s end, the new mom will have a wonderful memory full of special wishes for her child that she can one day pass on to him or her!

This is also a great idea if you still want to do “real” gifts as a little side event.  Each guest will stand up and present their charm or bead to the new mommy with their special wish.  So touching!

Unique Kids’ Birthday Party Locations

Monday, March 30th, 2009

A good friend of mine recently told me about a child’s birthday party that she attended at Habitot Children’s Discovery Museum where all of the kids dressed up, made crafts and learned about nature, ecology and farming—all in a fun way!

She was so impressed by Habitot that we started talking about all of the fun places a parent can host his or her child’s birthday party in a unique and educational way. Here are a few ideas for the perfect location for your little one’s next celebration:
