Top Kids Toys for the Holidays

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

Although it feels like fall has just begun, Yahoo! has already released its list of the top kids toys for the upcoming holiday season. We’re thrilled to see so many fun, modern twists on classic toys, from a digital Rubix cube to a 3-D version of Monopoly. Here are a few of our other favorites:

Anything and Everything Kai-Lan!

Kai-Lan

This adorable Nickelodeon character is topping the charts with her 48-piece buildable room, but we love all of her adorable products. You can even look forward to an expanded line of our charming Ni Hao, Kai-Lan cards and invitations, too!

Zhu Zhu Pets

If your little ones want a pet, but you don’t want to worry about the responsibility, Zhu Zhu Pets are perfect for you! These little robotic hamsters sell for as low as $8 each and come with all of the hamster ball, wheel and activity tube accessories you need to stay entertained for hours.

Bakugan Action Figures

This cool action figure pops out of a ball! As the top selling action figure over the last year, this unique design doesn’t seem like it will be slowing down in sales any time soon.

What are your kids’ requests for the upcoming season? Do you have any predictions about what the hottest new toys will be?

You Tell Us: Violent Movies Based on Kids Toys?

Friday, August 7th, 2009

Everyone is buzzing about the release of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra this weekend. Rated PG-13, it promises to be action-packed and full of big battles and violent scenes.

Like Transformers, G.I. Joe is based on a classic kids’ toy. Although older generations who grew up with Transformers and G.I. Joe action figures will undoubtedly flock to the theater to relive a bit of that childhood magic, but what about the little ones who idolize these toys today?

Do you think violent movies based on kids’ toys are a bad idea? Would you take your children to see G.I. Joe or Transformers? Are you concerned that they turn innocent playtime pals into something ominous?

What do you think about violent movies based on kids toys? You tell us!

New Toys for Parents!

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

Nearly every parent I know gets excited about capturing special moments with their little ones. Family photography is such a fun part of being a parent that Tiny Prints was built around the idea that you can preserve your family memories in a fun and stylish way! And the great news is, as technology advances, it becomes ever-easier to do just that.

One of our staff members recently invested in this Flip Video MinoHD camera. He loves that he can take HD video of his little girl, instantly upload it to his computer and still have a high enough resolution to watch it on his own TV. Plus, it’s teenie tiny, so it easily fits in his pocket!

If you need something sturdier, waterproof cameras have come a long way since the days of the disposable Kodak camera encased in plastic. Check out the Olympus Stylus Tough 8000, which is crushproof, waterproof, shockproof and freezeproof!

If you are looking for great image quality, most parents I know adore Canon. When it comes to image quality, Canon cameras generally capture exceptional photos. I like that they Canon PowerShot SD1200 comes in bright, fun colors too!

Lastly, if you are looking for a fun way to display your photos, digital picture frames are an excellent option. They also make great gifts for long distance relatives. My parents love it when I send photos to the digital frame I gave them last Christmas—it’s a way for them to see everything I’m up to, even though they live far away!
