Birthday parties are often synonymous with birthday presents, but there’s never a consensus about the best time to open said gifts.
As a child, at all the parties I attended the guests would gather around the birthday child and ooh and ahh (and sometimes cry) while the presents were ripped open one at a time. Nowadays it seems like most hosts chose to let the child open presents after the guests are gone.
