If you look at the New York Times Bestselling Children’s Books list for this week, you see titles like Goldilicious and Llama Llama Misses His Mama. I hardly recognize any of these modern titles, but there’s one on the list that definitely pulled at my heartstrings—Amelia Bedelia Goes Back to School.

I loved the Amelia Bedelia series when I was a kid. I still remember how she made a sketch of the drapes when she was asked to “draw the curtains” and how she put pants and a bow tie on a chicken when she was told to “dress” it.

Knowing that kids today still love classics like Amelia Bedelia makes me happy. What other classic children’s books do your kids still enjoy? What’s on your their’ must-read lists? Charlotte’s Web? Wind in the Willows? Goodnight, Moon? You tell us!

My son is only 2.5, but already on his favorites list are some of my classic favorites: Tikki Tikki Tembo, anything Dr. Seuss, I Love You Forever, Goodnight Moon. I can’t wait for him to get older so I can introduce him to more of my favorites…. The Boxcar Children, The Best Nest, The Berenstain Bears, Amelia Bedeila (I loved when she cut up a calendar because the recipe called for dates,) A Light in the Attic, Where the Sidewalk Ends, and many others!

I love Amelia Bedelia too! I will definitely have my kids read that (one day).

I love Amelia Bedelia :). I’m glad to see it back on the New York bestsellers. I also saw they’re making a movie of “Where the Wild Things Are”. That was probably my favorite growing up.
